What a Gmail AI assistant should actually do
Most Gmail AI tools stop at writing. They give you a text box, you paste a thread, and you get a reply that sounds like a press release. The work that eats your day is not writing one email. It is the twenty threads waiting on you, the eight people who never answered, the meeting that took six emails to book, and the thing you promised on Tuesday.
Momo is built for that second kind of work. It connects to Gmail and Google Calendar through Google sign-in and works in the background, then hands you one card to approve.
- Drafts replies in your own writing style and saves them to Gmail Drafts, in the thread, so you press Send in Gmail.
- Sorts the last week of mail into needs reply, FYI, cold pitches, newsletters, receipts and notifications. Archives the noise with one tap and an undo.
- Tracks every thread you sent that got no answer and offers a nudge after the number of days you choose.
- Books meetings by offering 2 to 4 free slots over email and creating the Google Meet when the other person picks one.
- Finds commitments in both directions, what you promised and what others promised you, and keeps them until delivered.
- Emails you a morning brief from your own Gmail: who needs a reply, who owes you one, today's meetings with prep notes.
It stays inside Gmail
Momo is not a new email client. There is nothing to migrate and no second inbox to keep in sync. Drafts land in Gmail Drafts. Replies go out from your Gmail address. Meetings go to Google Calendar with a Meet link. If you stop using Momo tomorrow, nothing you did is stuck anywhere.
That matters for teams too: your colleagues see normal emails from you, not a bot address.
Safety first, by design
Momo never sends an email on its own. Every send and every cancellation waits for your tap on a card that shows the exact message and recipients. Code, not the language model, picks who a reply goes to. Email content is treated as untrusted input, so an email cannot instruct Momo to do anything. Your Google refresh token is encrypted with AES-256-GCM and never shown to the model.
How it compares to Gemini in Gmail
Gemini in Gmail is good at summarising a long thread and polishing a sentence. It does not run in the background, does not know which of your sent emails are still unanswered, does not email people free slots and book the pick, and does not track what you promised. Momo does those things and then stops to ask you.

Nothing leaves without you
Every email and every cancellation shows up as a card first. Edit it, send it, or discard it. Sends wait 10 seconds so you can undo. Everything Momo reads, drafts and sends is on the Activity page.
How Momo handles your dataQuestions
What is the best AI assistant for Gmail?
It depends on what you need. For rewriting one email, Gmail's built-in Gemini is enough. For follow-through across your whole inbox, drafts in your voice, follow-up tracking and scheduling by email, Momo is built for exactly that and keeps you in Gmail.
Does Gmail have a built-in AI assistant?
Yes, Gemini in Gmail can summarise threads and help write or polish text. It does not track unanswered emails, book meetings over email, or send you a morning brief. Momo adds those.
Can AI write emails that sound like me?
Momo builds a writing-style profile from up to 25 of your own sent emails: tone, greeting, sign-off, length and habits. It stores style only, encrypted, and uses it for every draft.
Are Gmail AI assistants safe to use?
Momo uses Google sign-in, never sees your password, encrypts your Google access token, and cannot send anything without your tap. The security page lists every permission and why it is needed.
Can I use a Gmail AI assistant on mobile?
Yes. Open askmomo.app on your phone and add it to your Home Screen for notifications. Native Android and iOS apps are in testing.
How much does Momo cost?
Momo is free during early access. A Pro plan at ₹499 per month or ₹3,999 per year is planned. See the pricing page.
